A Robin Hood inspired tale with a twist. The real star of this tale is Scarlet, an uber tough chick that blows my mind. Her compelling story emphasizes love, friendship, heroism, self-sacrifice, and yet of all care for the poor. This book is a great read, something that people can reflect upon.

starting this book as a Robin Hood fan in general, I was not expecting to enjoy and be surprised by the story as much as I did. I absolutely loved this book!!! There was action, suspense, romance, drama, drunk friars, saucy wenches, and ribbons on knives. it was everything I was hoping for and more I could not put it down and was bordering depression when it ended(ok maybe not quite)

In the beginning the dialogue takes a bit getting used to but eventually I started thinking the way it would sou starting this book as a Robin Hood fan in general, I was not expecting to enjoy and be surprised by the story as much as I did. Scarlet, Robin, and John..the hand holding, the smoldering looks, the jealousy...oh the drama. So recently Ive found myself getting a tad bored with the love triangle scenarios I've been reading..and even though this one is fairly predictable I wasn't as turned off by it, in fact I was more like 'oooooh girl wait till robin finds ouuuuut' and Robin..
*sigh* Robin made me sigh more than once. A few times I couldnt get the idea of him looking like Kevin Costner out of my head, (but i was watching the bodyguard on tv while i was reading made me think of Prince of Thieves everytime I looked up, so maybe thats why) but i loved Gaughen's version of him. Very heroic but not in a flashy way, wish there was a bit more of seeing him in action but it is Scar's point of view so I understand its more about the girls swag. Scarlet was such a unique heroine to me I loved her 'voice' and her emotions her loyalty to Robin and the fact that the 'band' was the four friends who were so close and there for each other every step of the way. I do wish someone had of reacted a bit more to her situation with Godfrey though, come on Robin, didn't that deserve a little bit of a beat down? John and Much were great characters to read about and John's snarky 'tude now and then made him more believable to me.

I really wish I could've gotten more of a 'ScarBin/Roblet' fix before it all ended but overall I was very happy with this one. I can only hope there will be more in this series and I will definetly be stalking Gaughen's page for more info and more books!!
