Wow. That cover is so mysterious and alluring. The font style and the way word PLEDGE was written inconspicuously was very creative. I leveled it up to a 5 star rating b/c of the cover =p

I like The Pledge by Kimberly Derting way better than The Body Finder! I was not that impressed with the latter and Im not planning on reading its sequels. But with this one, I am all for it.

Thank you for giving us a dystopian theme mixed with paranormal! I really think it is just the combination I need after I Wow. That cover is so mysterious and alluring. Our heroine, Charlie, is a character you can grow to like and respect. She is strong and very caring to those who matter to her. She is also not boring, lol. She managed to keep my attention. And yeah, she is no whiner. (how many times have i rolled my eyeballs to those whiney girls' narratives).
Im not much of a fan of Maximillian. Maybe I've just read too much YA novels with better, more manly, more impressive and even wittier heroes so that I find him lacking. But I totally did not see it coming when the author revealed his true identity. (I was having my dinner while reading that part, and I am really SO SORRY I spilled some spaghetti sauce on the book borrowed from the library!!! Sorry!) I just thought he was some kind of royal spy/assassin. I love such a twist.
Hmmm Xander. He is more mysterious, I think. And I badly wanna know about how he got his scars!
The other characters, even the royal guards are all very interesting! They have their own places in the book that made it complete.
I always read the synopsis first before plunging on, and I have never read any other book that has this kind of plot. I had this dream when I was younger to be able to speak multiple languages like my country's national hero. Sadly, Im nowhere near being a linguistic and this book just has that connection with me.

The plot was even-paced. Some slightly-heart-pounding romances here and there. A handful of twists. Unique theme and my favorite dystopian setting (even though it sounded more of a monarchical than dystopian).
A very nice read for a Saturday chillax mode.~
