In line with the release of the movie, The Fault In Our Stars, I have decided to review this book that I have read way back in 2012. My book blog didn't exist then, and since I am on a slump, reviewing this book is like therapy for me. Yeah?

Warning : If you haven't read the book, do not read my review.

to say I was moved by this book is an understatement. I was heartbroken and elated. For me a reading experience is the moment we feel the book and thus understand what the book conveyed. Death and illnes is not a light issue esp. in realistic novel. Now I v read others reviews who gave a mere star based on the sensitivity of the theme. But for me a book is like experiencing an art. I have heard so much about this book and how amazing it is. I have honestly been on the waiting list at the library for 8 months. My son just borrowed it from his friend and I borrowed it from him. I really think this book is hyped up.

It was an ok story. Very metaphorical, which bothered me. I teach junior high and have for 20 years. The kids I work with are a year or two younger than Augustus and Hazel. In the 20 years, I have met very few students who think that deeply, and never two in the sa

John Green is not an author for me. I tried Looking for Alaska and hated it but everyone said this book was way better and I had to give him a second chance: I wish I didn't. The plot line about the sad dying cancer patients warmed my heart, honestly it did, but their love story left me with ongoing giggles and ridiculousness lingering in my head. It is not a relatable story and frankly, this book really annoyed me. If anything, I hoped Hazel would die but no she did not. And really? Alluding to ...more

3.5 stars ... Hmm... I'm really kind of speechless right now, and I don't think that it's a good thing... Well Yes! I was devastated, but I didn't even cry, not even once. >_< I felt sad, but never heartbroken... I felt their feelings like pain, fear, love, hatred, etc. along the way, but pretty much, that was just it. It didn't even leave a mark on me, and I feel terrible for that. But John Green is a really good writer. I'm looking forward to his other books :) ...more

It was grand. Easily readable. A bit ott. A nice romance despite all the nonsense.
