I had seen this book many times at chapters and finally purchased it and am so glad I did.
This is a bittersweet love story about Hazel and Augustus who meet at a cancer support group. Hazel is terminal but has bought some time, Augustus is in remission after having his leg amputated. I loved the story although while reading it you know the ending won't be a happily ever after. I love the way the author uses humour. While cancer is not funny, the way he writes and the humorous outlook hazel and ...more

Damn.....I am trying not to cry! :(
“Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book.”
Wow!
This is why I love reading. This book is amazing, even though it made me cry. I am so glad I read it.
John Green, you are really talented. Why haven't I read more of your work?. Well, I sure am going to.

Cannot believe I laughed so much and cried so much during the same book. It doesn't really warrant a review. Just a good thorough reading with lots of emotions involved. ...more

So I decided to let this one sit for a few days before even attempting to write a review. After letting it sit, I have to admit I'm even more at a loss of what to write than I was before.
I've only read one other John Green book, the absolutely fantastic Will Grayson, Will Grayson. That book was so fabulous that I had very high expectations. And I have to say that I instantly fell in love with the characters. From the title and the plot themes, Romeo and Juliet immediately popped into my head. I ...more

Update 10/28/13:
I reread this book a couple of days ago (and actually purchased my own copy.) It's held up since the first time I read it. I picked up on a lot more of Green's use of foreshadowing and other small details I missed the first time.
I just...really appreciate this book. I realize most people reading it only focus on Hazel and Gus, but having such a popular book (and soon, a movie) about something like teens with cancer is so huge. I only wish people understood the thoughts and desire ...more

Like all John Green books, The Fault in Our Stars uses humor to address the difficulties of teen life. And the ending? Let's just say it's stunning and heartbreaking.

I wish I could put together the descriptive, well written review that this book deserves. But unfortunately, having just finished it, I can't stop crying. And these three sentences are about as much as I can handle.

John Green's writing makes it hard for me to get through his books. All I want to do is read and re-read his sentences. Loved this book.
