I was pleasantly surprised that I really enjoyed this book, it seemed to have so much hype that I thought it was going to turn out to be another ‘hush, hush’ or ‘twilight’ series….a book with a lot of hype but nothing else. I thought the plot was awesome, the idea of the shadowhunters and different creatures was badass and I liked Clary, she stood up for herself but didn’t act like a bitch and I am glad there is a popular series out there that has gay relationships in them. Um…and the whole “rel

I found this book very entertianing. I know all the talk about how it's a rip-off of Harry Potter etc but it contains all the elements that I loved about Harry Potter so I'm happy.
The only realy peeve I have isn't directed at the book, but rather the author and the scores of other authors that decide to base their books on Nephilim just because angel/human hybrids sound cool.
The old scriptures say that one of the reasons God flooded the world was to kill all the Nephilim. In the original tales t ...more

It took me a long time to finish, sometimes i was getting a little upset with it, and some situations were getting a little bit predictable, but in some other parts, it was very good.
So yeah, 2 stars is ok.
It also somehow reminded me so much of other stories like harry potter, and star wars for the part where (view spoiler)
Won't continue reading this series.

Ah, The Mortal Instruments. A series that never seems to end.
Seriously, though. I thought this was supposed to be a trilogy. Next thing I know she’s popping out 3 more books (are more on the way? That’s a serious question), a spin-off series (which I love SO much more btw), and yet another spin-off series coming this year.
WILL IT EVER END?!?!
Okay, getting off topic.

I love this book. Love Jace. i've never read a book like this because i was never really into the demon thing. But this book was amazing. I mean it had romance betrayal evil and all the good stuff that i love. So if you like those things, this book is for you.

I really enjoyed the story and it was definitely action packed. I found myself getting tripped up, however, with the adverb heavy descriptors that accompanied so many of the "he said" and "she said". I found it to be distracting at times--not enough to turn me off or detract from the story, but just enough to throw me out of sync on occasion.
