Fantastic. :) I can't say I liked it quite as much as Graceling, but it was still amazing. I think Kristin Cashore has a great writing style, and you can tell she puts a lot of thought into her characters and even more thought into the intricate world she creates.
Love the characters. ;D Fire was a really cool main character; I liked that she magically attracted people but she wasn't full of herself and she didn't actually want the attention. lol. It was believable. Brigan was also awesome. :D An ...more

Love this book. I read this book for Twilight Moms BOTM along with Cashore's Graceling and while I really liked Graceling, I absolutely loved Fire.
Expanding on the world created in Graceling, Fire focuses on a girl named Fire who is considered a Monster and is recognizable as such by her vibrantly red hair. As a monster she has the ability to enter another's mind and affect their thoughts and actions. Like Graceling, Fire is really a coming of age story and Fire finds her place in her world and ...more

Fire is a the last of the human monsters in the Dells, because of their beauty that can drive men and women insane with desire, besides that there's the little problem with their mind controlling powers, because of the treath the present on the Dells they've been eradicated, making Fire an outcast in the Dells. She resides in a secure place where her beauty can't hurt anyone and where she fears she may someday use her powers for evil.

First of all let me start off by saying that I loved this book! I thought is was extremely well written and you could physically see how Cashore grew as an author from Graceling to Fire.
However, the book did fall a little short for me. I think part of the reason was because I loved Graceling so much. I took the advice of other goodreads users and had a bit of a break between the 2 books. I think this is super important if you get overly attached to certain characters like I do because you don't ...more

Fire's story is about the longing to be apart of the world, but still appreciating who she it. Seventeen-year-old Fire is tossed into a world that seems to be less full of her kind, and more full of the human kind. She's struggles with the people around her. No one trusts her. But with her bold mind she begins to understand herself.

Well, I have to start by saying I was not as into this one as I was into Graceling. Fire was not a bad ass like Katsa, and that kind of bothered me. Having said that, this was still entertaining and had much better writting and characters than a lot of crappy "best selling" books out there. All in all, it was a good book, and I will def. read book 3 in the series.
