I am happy to report that this book has exceeded whatever expectations I had for the whole trilogy. This one centered hugely on war, but there was also more: There’s love and hatred, there’s fear and courage, there’s ultimately peace. For some reason it was hard for me to get through Catching Fire and I put it away for a few months before I finished it up. I remembered why I loved the series to begin with: the characters and the refreshing feeling of reading something that hasn't been done before. Mockingjay is no different, except here we see the characters fall apart over and over again and almost give up their will to live on multiple occasions.

I'm about five or six chapters in right now and still don't feel connected to this third book. I LOVED the first book, enjoyed the second, but this third feels almost like I misssed volume two and a half.

I'm going to keep on reading and finish it - just to see how it turns out - but I really feel as if I'm missing the point here.

Amazing. That's the only word I can describe this book and the two before it. I expected the worst throughout the entire book and by the end of the book I had the biggest smile on my face. really liked the first two books but this last one felt too long and not as good. I still think the first hunger games is a masterpiece and should be given to anyone who thinks reading books is boring!
