This is the best book (or books if you include the whole trilogy) that I read in 2010! AMAZING!!! I can't say enough good things about these books, Suzanne Collins is a fabulous writer!

I'm still mulling over my thoughts on this book, but I know a couple of you wanted to know my opinion. I really wanted to give it 3.5 stars, but Goodreads just wouldn't let me. I think if I had read this when I was more into my Stephen King phase, I would have given it 4 or 5 stars, but I'm not into suspense as much anymore.
Anyway, one thing that I found disturbing is that many, many 11 & 12-year-old kids have read this. Not just once but several times. I think it is more appropriate for the 14 ...more

It was GREAT!!! I loved it, and I can't wait to read the second!! Peeta being in love was so... so awwwww, I really really loved the book. Yet I knew he wasn't acting and I can't believe Katniss was so dense. Love triangle, aaaaah. Gale is perfect for her yet Peeta totally cares for her. I personally like Peeta better.
I think the Hunger Games in the story should be eliminated cause, what the heck?? And why yearly? Why not every 2 years or something. I think it's dumb. Also the rule of not being ...more

It took me almost 3 years to pick up this book an read it. I didn't go in expecting much if anything at all. Now I don't know why it took me so long. This novel explores so many aspects of our immensely flawed human nature.
This story takes place in a dystopian north american future after a worldwide war which seems strangely close to reality when I cone to think of it. During the entirety of my time reading it I couldn't help thinking about a short story by Shirley Jackson: The Lottery. The si ...more

Wow. And this took me so long to read because...
What a fantastic book! I've slowly been introducing myself into the Dystopian society books and I really wish this would have been read before Matched. I loved this book and can say, I'm Team Peeta all the way. I knew nothing going into this other than these kids were there to play the hunger games. I was so worried about one, or both of them dying. Now, I'm anxious to read the rest of the series to find out how it all turns out!

I won't write a summary for this book because there's a fine one under the book title but I will give my thoughts. I L O V E this book!!!!!
Katniss is such an independent girl and a great hero for the girls of Panem and her world. She is strong, courageous and loves her friends and family dearly. She starts the 'game' not expecting to come out alive but wants to do all she can to make it back to her sister Prim who sees Katniss as almost a mother figure.

About halfway through this book and it's got me by the throat and won't let go. Awesome, awesome yarn. I had been waiting for the paperback (I'm cheap), but I'm so hooked on this I've already shelled out for the other two books in the series - hardcover or not. This book rocks!
I finished it, loved it. ...more
