Just putting this here to say that this was the first sweet valley book I EVER read. I was hooked from the beginning! I'm going to paint a picture for you- it was the summer before 2nd grade. I was staying at my grandma's house for the week. I remember it clearly. I was quite an avid reader. (still am) I think everyone in the house was napping except for me (haha. One of my firsts once more: this time around, my first book about kids having to go to the hospital. Back then, I didn't even know why children should even have their tonsils taken out! Can you believe that I thought one was born without tonsils? Shows you what a child knows.

Again, a great introduction for children to the concept of hospitals and of not being afraid of minor operations.

Once again the title gives it away 😂 Liz and Jess have to get their tonsils out and they are nervous. Interesting that both of them have to at the same time 🤔 Anyway, the arrive the night before and meet some other kids who keep talking about Moe and Joe. The twins find out they are turtles being raced the next night! The night day is their operation which goes smoothly, and they get ice cream after. Did I read that’s not a thing anymore?
