Push: A Novel
Sapphire
What can I say about this book? That it is brilliant! That is an understatement. The novel explores issues of sexual/child abuse, incest, unwed motherhood, race, light skin/dark skin, and how women see and are seen in this society. Especially poor women of color who seem to disappear, become invisible until we try to get assistance from the system, then are blamed for all society's evils.
All this through the eyes of an abused teenager as she battles outside and inner demons ...more
