Com o aniversário de 20 anos do primeiro filme de Senhor dos Anéis (é verdade, pode checar, também fiquei chocada), resolvi não só rever os seis filmes baseados nas obras do Tolkien, como reler os livros.
E não tinha como começar sem ser pelo Hobbit, que tem o primeiro parágrafo mais icônico da literatura infantojuvenil:

This is one of my all-time favourite books. I read it first (in English) at age about 11, and have re-read it many times since. It was the first book I ever bought in Russian, from the magnificent Blackwells bookshop in Oxford.
Now I'm reading it in Russian, and realising that it is surprisingly complex. Considering it was written for 11-year olds there is an awful lot of description of the landscape in there.

A gripping story, beautifully told. Despite being written for 11 years olds, the language is not easy and is probably C1+ for English learners.
