I'm embarrassed to say, despite being obsessed with Victorian lit in my younger days, taking several Victorian lit classes both in undergrad and grad school, going on a Lewis Carrol tour of Oxford during my study abroad, and being a fantasy fan and especially a portal fantasy fan, that this is the first time I'm reading this. I'm pretty sure I read this book a couple of times as a child. I'm also pretty sure that the Disney film has stuck with me more than the actual book. There's also the fact that I've read a fair number of other books " based on" or " inspired by" Alice in Wonderland, and I can't be sure how many of my memories are from my actual experience reading the book, and how many are influenced by other books I've read.
