Out of all the fairy tales the story of the Princess and the Pea doesn't get too much limelight and I was curious to see what the retellings could make of it.
Violet is a farmgirl through and through. She is happy but lately she's been feeling unsettled. Especially this time since another storm is coming. The coming of a storm has always brought a dramatic change in her life and this last one will be no different.

I admit, the fairy tale The Princess and the Pea never really intrigued me. However, Debbie Viguie was able to look deeper into the story and go farther into the characters backgrounds. I love how she stayed close to the original story by including that the Prince could only marry a true princess and that she must have sensitive skin. How sensitive the princesses in this story are sounded pretty silly. If people in real life were that sensitive, they wouldn't be able to survive birth. But that c

Sort of a spoiler involved in this review, but not really.
It was fun to read a more fleshed-out version of Princess and the Pea, and I thought it did a good job of expanding the story into something a bit more understandable. Although, with all of the other tests being nonsupernatural in nature, I did think the pea itself was a tiny bit of a cop-out. But it was still pretty fun to read.
