I am totally in "like" with this series. Why do I go all mushy inside every time I read one? I guess I carry way too much estrogen but I'm not ashamed. No way. Part of the reasons fairy tales have been around so long is because they show us something about what the heart can do.

Belle doesn't fit her name. At least she doesn't feel like she does when she is next to her gorgeous sisters. The author doesn't make us feel sorry for Belle in the least, which I thought was odd but good. Though she isn'

Strongly reminiscent of Robin McKinley's retelling of the same fairy tale in Rose Daughter, only shortened and simplified for a younger readership. ...more

Since I'm a Beauty and the Beast geek (you don't write your Honors thesis about B&B without being a geek) and I like Cameron Dokey, of course I was dying to read this. I enjoyed it quite a bit. She changed the emphasis from the Beast's transformation more to Belle's transformation, which I thought was an interesting way to go. It was cute, short and sweet... I for one love the story of Beauty and the Beast, although I do wish that Belle's time with the Beast had been longer, and more developed..

I would give it 3.5 stars, because it was so simple and sweet... Beauty is in the eye of the beholder :-)

As you can probably guess by the title, this is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, which probably means that I will be partial to it without even reading it, even though it might have been the same story as the rest. And even though there is a man under a curse of ugliness, roses, enchantments, love, etc… There is something completely unexpected. The Heartwood tree. A tree whose branches, if given willingly, will show you the face of your true love. THAT definitely wasn't in the Disney version ...more

A very magical intake of the story. I love the story of Beauty and the Beast, and the interpretation of finding the love and beauty within really is shown here. I really love the cover art of the book too. It's sad that there are no more Kinuko Y. Craft illustrations for the the series. ...more
