Extremely wary was I of this one. There have been tons of Cinderella retellings and begs you to ask the question what could this little book have to offer? A substantial amount as it turns out.

Cendrillion is blamed for the death of her mother. Not by everyone mind you but by her father. He wishes to never to see her again until he can receive peace. When he comes to visit his dead wife's grave he brings another life with him. A little baby boy to be exact. His name would be Raoul and he and Cend

I really should have read the three stories in this anthology individually - but I read them all in a rush, since there's an enormous waiting list at the library and I wanted to get it on to the next patron as soon as I possibly could.

Unfortunately, the flaws in Dokey's writing become more apparent when you read them together, because it's the same flaws in all three.

This short Cinderella retelling is rife with all kinds of magic--mysterious wishes and winds, plants that burst with different fruits on different days. The estate life with Cendrillion, the boy (given t ...more

So, when I first picked up this book I thought, "Good grief! ANOTHER Cinderella story!?!?!? How many can there be?" I don't know how many are out there... but I doubt they're as enchanting and bewitching as this one is! There have been sooooo many retellings of Cinderella that they are all the same. Not this one, I was completely shocked at some points in the book because, no one's ever written that before! Overall, it swept me off my feet. ...more

I enjoyed this addition to the Once Upon a Time series a lot, but it had a much slower pacing than many of the other books in the series.
There were several choppy, repetitive, or out of place lines throughout, as well.
But the story was sweet and I enjoyed the characters and the little message.
