What Members Thought

What can I say? I liked this book. I found the premise hugely imaginative and the characters amusing. It was well written and carefully crafted. I didn't come away with anything "profound" as such, just time spent in a world in which faery and magic were real, but gritty rather than phantasmagorical. Ignore any comparisons like "Harry Potter" for adults, think of it more as a well considered excursion into alternative history.

I finally resorted to audio; it was too easy for me to set it aside to read something else. The audio book was quite enjoyable.
