This was my first Robin McKinley book, and you can be sure that it wasn't my last. Every time I read this, I admire the way McKinley used the old stories that most readers aren't familiar with along with the parts of the story everyone knows. I also love her interpretation of Robin: less of a legendary figure (his archery skills are by no means epic) and more of a man just trying to stand up for the people not strong enough to fight a corrupt system.
