I underwent quiet the internal debate as to whether to give this 3 stars or 4. In the end, I felt it just didn't live up to 4, so 3 it is.

The story was interesting, I liked the character of Beauty (and I liked the two sisters - I felt that the interweaving of their stories with Beauty's was very well handled), and it was obvious that the author was very passionate about her subject: gardening.

So why 3 and not 4 stars?

I've read this book in paper before, and I've always loved it. This time around, I listened to the audiobook in an attempt to get in some extra reading time and take advantage of my audible membership. I have conflicting feelings about the audio. On the one hand, the narrator was wonderful, and it was a really well-produced book. This was a good fairytale but it just didn't do it for me. I feel like the roses were more important that the romance. I loved the detail about the roses and how they played into the curse. There just needed to be a little more romance. ...more
