The older I get, the more I appreciate twisted fairy tales. Or maybe 'twisted' isn't the appropriate term, but more so 'standard.' Fairy tales were always a little twisted, weren't they? And this, tied into the Grisha verse, is even better.
But I don't think you have to be familiar with the Grisha verse to enjoy this book. They are stories all on their own and there's no need to fully understand that mythology. You can enjoy the book on its own.

A very nice set of folk and fairy tales retold from the perspective of Bardugo's Grisha world.
