The collection itself is varied, interesting and informative. And the illustrations are absolutely stunning! I feel blessed to have found a copy of this hardcover at Goodwill for under $1 -- I can't believe someone gave it away; their loss.

Stunning. The tales, the myths, the illustrations, the true stories, and the author's personal history--all of it simply stunning. Add in the history, the fact that these tales support the strong female, and unique language of various stories, and it is a truly rich read.
