Just as no two authors would approach the same story in exactly the same way, no two readers will be stirred in the same way from their story. Or, maybe I assume wrongly that most people bring their own personal experience with them as they read a story. I've never been pulled into the feelings of a character in such a vivid, detailed way, feeling that I understood exactly what the narrator was going through. This mimicks real life in that the perceptions the storyteller bases his decisions on a

From being an academic professor to being a professional writer and a bestseller, Andre Aciman managed to embark upon an outstanding writing career by debuting his exceptionally dashing queer novel Call Me By Your Name .
CMBYN is a tale revolving around obsessive love from the perspective of Aristophanes where Aciman makes of his protagonist and his lover, Alcibiades to his Socrates. Through summer love, the 17 years old Elio witnesses a sexual awakening and undergoes lush curiosities stimulated ...more

The setting of this book makes it seem like a gauzy romance... Set in Italy over a languid summer where an American grad student named Oliver rents a room in a house that 17-year-old Elio's parents own. Elio becomes obsessed with the older man, but it is unclear, despite them clicking as friends, that anything will come of it. The affair between the two young men is destined to only last the summer, and is recounted by Elio in retrospect. But the writing in this book is gorgeous and Elio's youth

oh shutup i'M CRYING. Too much to handle.
I don't know what to say, what to review, ...like... this book left me speechless. It's beautiful in every way. From the beginning to the end, everything was amazingly written. I'm just sobbing that how the ending made my feel both sad and happy, like somewhere in between that I can't describe exactly, which makes me sleepless at 3 A.M !!! I feel myself in this story, just like Elio, which is why this book is so special to me.

A pitch perfect novel set in Italy one summer when the scent of sunbaked rosemary fills the Mediterranean air and love moves on both measured and impulsive cat paws. A sophisticated and well-educated son of a professor falls for the older graduate student who spends the steamy months at his father's villa while working on his thesis. The book is alive with passion tenderly remembered.

The most precious book I’ve ever read. Aciman’s writing is so beautiful and so passionate, it’s beautiful to experience that amazing feeling of romance and desire with the delicate touch of prohibition Aciman gives to the characters, and not to mention the whole ambiance of it.
