My actual rating is 2.5 stars.
A book set in the EU. This book is about a girl who is strong in the force and her brother who is not. This book explores their development and how they deal with this development. I did enjoy this dynamic. My problem with this book was the expectation from its title. This novel could have been set anywhere in the EU timeline and was misleading. Tahle knížka je v mnoha ohledech odvážná... Nejen v tom, že se pouští do historického období předaleké galaxie, kam se ještě žádný román Star Wars nevydal, ale také (a především) v morální nejednoznačnosti charakterů a celkovém vyznění příběhu. Not as horrible as some reviews would have you think. Took a little while to connect with the characters, but once that happened it was fun. I did not have a problem with the perspective that the book was written from, I mention this as it REALLY bothered some reviewers. I wish that the final "standoff" and some other action sequences would have been drawn out a bit more, they seemed to pass by too quickly and were the most entertaining parts of the book. I really enjoyed this book. It goes a long way to explain the origin of the Jedi. Who and what they were in the early years. Before light versus dark even. I thought the characters where well thought out and liked the way they develop through the story with snippets from their past at the beginning of each chapter. The one drawback that prevents me giving this book 5 stars is it's predictable plot. I kept hoping for a twist, which sadly never came.

A good book that may focus on the wrong aspect of the time period. I didn't really care for the outcome of the chase but the ending leaves this area ripe for more exploration.
