I have read over a hundred star wars novels, and this one is my very favorite. Stover takes us on a deep and very disturbing journey into the mind of Jacen Solo as he is tortured by his Yuuzhan Vong captors. While this book from the NJO arc was not as action packed as some of the earlier entries in the series, it was still quite enjoyable. In it, we saw the "return" of Jacen Solo. We learn that he is not dead, but instead under the tutelage of the strange and exotic Force sensitive alien known as Vergere. She teaches him that the Force is neither light nor dark, and Jacen, seemingly accepts this, and becomes more powerful with the knowledge that a little bit of "dark" attitude is not always bad. I e

One of my favorite Star Wars books.
5/23/24--Listened to audiobook at work. Not a bad listen, but Jacen's moral wondering about the Force got to be a bit much. Still can't stand Vergere, but what she did with Jacen leads very much into what happens in later series. Ganner's last stand is still my favorite. ...more
