Aaron Allston can usually be counted on to write good Star Wars fiction, but at times his writing is dull and not all of his books crackle with excitement. This novel, "Betrayal", is a combination of both Allston's best and worst writing. Very interesting. It almost seems like Jacen thinks he can become a Sith academically, without it affecting him at all, without falling to the Dark Side. I wonder if that will be the difference between Jacen's fall and Anakin Skywalker's. Anakin's fall was all about his emotions and Jacen's seems to be starting from a lack of emotion.
