good second book in this series. Leia is trying to get the New Republic to see the threat that is coming its way, but the Chief of State isn't buying it. At the same time, Luke, is trying to settle a split in the Jedi over their direction. While there action is short and far between, I still enjoyed how a the backstory of trying to find out more of the Yuuzhan Vong is establish. We also get to see more action out of the Solo kids as each one tries to find their way in the Force.

This is a good book and good set-up for the NJO series. I like the emphasis on Corran Horn but am beginning to realize just how whiny Jacen was back then. The battle sequence at the end is a bit hard to follow but was fine. Jaina is one of my favorite Jedi and I like her certainty and sureness compared to Jacen's wishy-washiness.
