[close] Wow, this is really quite a book. I liked this novel a lot. A dual story, from the perspective of the good guy/girl, and the very bad guy/possibly victimized but maybe also very bad girl. A crime novel. Good guy is a cop, bad guy is a smuggler/dealer. Science fiction, some creature action but pretty humanized, extremely violent. Extremely. But also beautifully written. It really sucks you in. It was a very compelling story. HEA for both stories, and you believe them both.

Warning - there is some heavy stuff in here, esp in the bad man/bad woman-victim story. It's pretty serious sadomasochism/power, not at all ritualized, the author plays it out in real time.
