We are at book three of this incredible I-Team series. Now let's review:

Third book in a series with ever-increasing pressure on the author by way of rising expectations of readers to compare to absolutely outstanding predecessor books in the series/other books by this author -- Meets and exceeds!

I think if I could sum up this book with one word it would be...brilliant!...or beautiful!...or (absolutely freaking) amazing!

The road to happiness for Marc Hunter and Sophie Alton is probably the longest, most difficult and improbable road that a hero & heroine (truly deserving titles) have had to travel; but from the Prologue to the Epilogue, you will cheer this couple on for every hard-fought mile they gain.

4.5 stars... This was not quite a 5 star read for me, but it had so many good points that I just had to round it up.

Firstly, the best prologue I have ever read, followed later by a brilliant last chapter and great epilogue - these alone are probably worth 5 stars.

Secondly, Clare witty quips and one-liners, especially when presented as internal dialogue, are masterful and laugh out loud funny.

Thirdly, Clare has yet to write a hero or heroine that I don't like, and Marc is particularly well drawn. ...more

So far, this one's my favorite of the series. I love the back story. It's a little on the fluff side, but captivating none the less. Definitely a page turner, especially toward the end. Great plot and killer climactic ending (pun intended). I am totally hooked on this series. PC writes such wonderful leading men. 4.5 stars. I'm not sure why I can't give it 5 stars, but it was a pretty awesome book.

Like the rest of the I-Team series, the heroine is a investigative reporter who stumbles upon a really dangerous issue and is trying to survive while getting it on with a really hot hero who is also embroiled in the plot, but will surely save the day. In this book, it was Sophie Alton. For a reporter, she was very likeable and not at all obsessed with getting her story. That itself won her points. She becomes a 4.5 stars. I'm not sure why I can't give it 5 stars, but it was a pretty awesome book.

Like the rest of the I-Team series, the heroine is a investigative reporter who stumbles upon a really dangerous issue and is trying to survive while getting it on with a really hot hero who is also embroiled in the plot, but will surely save the day. In this book, it was Sophie Alton. For a reporter, she was very likeable and not at all obsessed with getting her story. That itself won her points. She becomes attached to one of her projects about pregnant women in prison, specifically a young woman named Megan. Megan is a ex-drug-addict, on her pathway to recovery and getting her life back (along with her 8 month old child). But the day Megan was supposed to get her life back, she disappears with her baby, leaving behind lots and lots of heroine (or was it cocaine? I get confused about drugs...). Sophie is desperate to find her, but she gets a lead in the form of Marc Hunter, Megan's half-brother, incarcerated for life without parole. Believe it or not, that's our hero. Surprising? Yes, but Marc isn't new to Sophie's life. 12 years ago, they were starcrossed lovers, sharing a night passion before Marc joined the Army. He takes her as hostage in order to break out of prison, but eventually they do team up and search for Megan. In the meantime, they're trying to figure out who's behind the sexual abuse and murders of the girls that Megan was with while she was at a juvenile correctional facility and screwing each other silly, of course. Then they save the world from the corrupt correctional facility institution and live happily ever after.

Like I said earlier, Sophie was highly likeable. She was quite a detective, though she makes a few mistakes every now and then. But that happens to the best of us and it just made her seem more realistic. Marc, aka. Hunt, is a sexy beast. I love a man with honor, and this one might have too much honor to function normally. Marc lives in the Now, which for his life, makes a lot of sense. I'm glad he got his HEA with Sophie.

The weird thing about his book compared to the last 2 is the crime solving part was very unfocused. Well, that's not right. What I'm trying to say is, the I-team journalism part of the story did not integrate with the plot, so Sophie could have been a normal civilian and the story wouldn't have been all that different. In that aspect, it didn't have the same kick as the other 2, but the issue it deals with is even more sinister than before. Sexual abuse in correctional facilities, defunct foster care, pregnant prisoners...it's enough real world things to scare you.

Overall, it was a great read. Marc was really sexy - enough to deserve his own fan club. Everything kinda ended sappy, but considering the lives of Megan and Marc...seriously, they NEEDED a happy ending. ...more

WOW!!!! This book was amazing and by far my favorite in the I-TEAM series!! Pamela Clare really outdid herself this time... Marc quickly earned a place for himself on my favorite-heroes shelf- I had to scoot over the other heroes because Marc has so much manly-hunkiness that he needed extra room! (my apologies to the other heroes on my shelf, no offense intended)

This book was great. Pamela Clare is an extremely talented author. Her writing is concise, eloquent, and easy to read. Her characterization is fantastic. I found myself rooting for a convicted felon to actually not get caught when he escapes prison. I mean, not many authors could pull it off, but Clare does.
After the opening (which was so super sweet) to 12 years later and I found myself thinking "My god hunt, what the hell happened to you!" His is not a happy history. I felt for him depsite be ...more
