What a complete mess. This read like a 15 year old wrote this. Sorry a 15 year old that wasn't very literate. I have a niece that age and her writing's awesome. It wasn't only the writing but the tone and maturity too. I didn't like one character, not one, in this book. It disturbed me that bullying and violence seemed almost glorified, this, because it came from the 'hero'. Firstly i have to start off by saying that I'm lost!! I'm lost because i was so addicted to this book but it was so confusing. Half the time I didn't know what was happening. It jumped from one scene to the next and I had to check to make sure i didn't click next twice.

I wanted to know more about Logan, Mason and Sam. I wanted more of a description. Usually while i read a book i have a picture in my mind of who the heroine/hero looks like but I had no clue here. The author didn't really go into ...more

Just when you thought you’d left all the high school drama behind, this story will have you going back to where it all went down. It was hard not to reminisce about my own teenage dramatic experiences, but this story proves there is such a thing as drama extreme. You have the “have's” and the “have not’s” battling it out over top spots on the social totem pole mostly in a private school setting, but it also includes a few players from the neighboring public school. It is on the neutral territory of a gas station where we first meet Samantha (Sam) as she unknowingly begins a whirlwind journey of extreme highs and lows that forcibly remove her from her seemingly unknown status in school to one of the most gossiped about. Jealousy, envy, and lust all rear their ugly heads while Sam tries to navigate her new norm of social pressures, slight identity crisis, and complicated parental situations. And all because of one question that keeps getting asked and is becoming increasingly harder to deny…

“So you know the Kades?”

Who are these “Kades” you might ask… well they just so happen to be the most wanted and most popular young men about town. Mason and Logan Kade are young, hot, rich, footballers. They are in high demand where the guys want to befriend them and the girls want to date them, but the brothers remain elusive of both and prove their loyalty is only to each other and a close friend. Sam and the brothers Kade are unsure of what their role is in each others lives and tread very carefully in the beginning with only passing glances or outright avoidance. Since Sam goes to a private school and the brothers are in public, Sam believes wholeheartedly avoiding them is her best chance to avoid the scandal that awaits if anyone found out her close ties to the infamous pair. It’s not at all an ideal situation to be thrust into the popularity spotlight when Sam’s going through her own personal version of hell and the brother’s make it nearly impossible with their hard-partying ways. Personally, I was proud of how Sam socially stomps everyone and stays true to herself without giving in to conformity. She didn’t have that “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” attitude and instead made her own way with shocking results.

There are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, borderline bipolar teenage girls, cheating, partying ‘til all hours of the morning, underage drinking, backstabbing, car-bombings, teenage promiscuity, and that’s just the beginning, which all takes place within the first few chapters of the story. If you find any of that offensive and believe me there is much more where that came from as the story continues, then you might want to steer clear. However, if you’re into positively addicting drama with twists around every corner then this is a story for you. It may be set in high school, but don’t let that stop you, this story definitely has adult elements. Speaking of which, the heat level is set to simmer and increases at hot and heavy levels as Sam winds her way through the minefield that has become her life.

If this story is any indication to the rest of this author’s work, then I am a forever fan. The pacing was exciting and the storyline was positively addicting and I never thought I would say that about a story set in high school. Perhaps what I liked best was the unpredictability of it all. The characters and circumstances were evolving constantly and served to keep me riveted the entire way through. Aside from the length (where some readers may have found it a little on the longish side) and the carousel of characters (that at times were hard to place since there were quite a few to keep track of), I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this story. I was kept on edge the whole time even though nothing major or devastating happens, in the mind of a young adult, it all is and I can’t wait to read more! ...more

My absolute favourite way to discover new books now days is to see what everyone else is reading. I particularly like cruising through the romance "most read" books on GoodReads, which is how I found this book. Tijan just released a new novel, and I've never read any work by the author before, and this is her most popular novel so I'll give it a go!

Worst book I read this year.

My feeling while I was reading it...

This book was bad is so many aspects: poor plot, bad english, meaningless characters, disjointed dialogues, on several occasions the conversations didn't make sense and I didn't like any of the characters in this book.

I wouldn't recommend this book not even for my worst enemy in the world!
I can't understand why this book has such good rating in Goodreads.
