There are a couple of series’ that I wait each year for the book to release, devour it, and then head straight to a book funk. They are that good. Kate Daniels is one of those series and Magic Slays does not disappoint one bit. This is a series that keeps getting better.

Magic Slays picks up pretty close to where Magic Bleeds left off, maybe a couple of months in between. Kate has her new agency with no clients and she also has a new relationship that she is feeling her way around. The story slow ...more

You should just give up on this detective shit and start killing people for a living. It’s simple, honest work, and you ain’t got the brains for anything else.

At the end of Magic Bleeds, everything has changed and new beginnings have started. Kate no longer works for Merciful Aid, she’s mated to Curran, who nearly died and Andrea has disappeared. Now with help from the Pack Kate runs her own business, Cutting Edge Investigations with her ‘new’ partner in crime. But she’s also dealing with being the new alpha of the Pack and stealing dealing with problems from the female alpha wolf. If only Kate could get a case to help keep her busy and out of Pack business for a while. Luckily she gets a case but it’s a bit of a tricky one and ends up finding out more about her family, this time from her mother’s side, and she’s got a runaway kid to deal with too!
What I really enjoyed about Magic Slays is that Kate stays true to how she is even though all she’s getting is trouble from the Pack while trying to make her relationship with Curran work. I have to admit because I haven’t yet but by Magic Strikes and Magic Bleeds I had a small crush on Curran, he had grown on me and if he hadn’t grown on me in the previous two books then he would have done it in Magic Slays, Kate meets a family member from her mother’s side who puts doubts about her relationship with Curran in her mind and although they are fair points Curran more than proves himself to Kate that he truly does love her and wants to be with her no matter what and that totally won him over for me. He may be great on his own but with Kate he’s extra awesome! Magic Slays is another action packed story with some really interesting twists and turns that really keep you intrigued and stuck to the storyline.

Overall, Magic Slays was another awesome addition to the Kate Daniels series and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series next year!

I'm enjoying how Kate's story is unfolding. It's interesting to see her adapt to her role as the Beast Lord's Consort. She was such a loner before, and now she has 1500 shapeshifters ready to fight to the death for her. I'm glad she and Andrea made up, and that Derek has a part in her everyday life. I'll be interested to see what happens with Julie and if something ends up happening with her and Ascenio.

Book 5 in the Kate Daniels series

Another amazing book by the husband and wife Ilona Andrews team. I always seem to think the previous book was the best- that is until the new one is released! It’s so great that the authors of this series care so much about their characters, world, and plot lines that they won’t compromise or rush books simply to satisfy the publisher. Bravo! Do I even need to say how awesome Curran and Kate are?

Loved it! I was so worried about how this one would play out. It was so nice to see Kate and Curran's relationship evolving. I love Andrea, Derek and Julie. The storyline is still going strong which can be hard at this point in a series. As always it has some of the best one liners!!!!!!! Can't wait for the next book!
