The begining of this book was like "WOW". I never cried or felt my heart lurch so much in my life. You can tell a lot of thought was put into the begining of this story. When Ms. Kenyon said she'd been writing this story for years you could tell. It was well written and well thought out. What Acheron been through all you wanted for him was a happy ending. It was heart breaking to see someone so beaten down have no way out of an awful existence. His only saving grace was his sister, Lyssa who never stopped being his biggest supporter. In this book we get the full effect of his and Artemis’s twisted” relationship.” We find out why Apollymi destroyed everyone and everything in her wake. We even taste of his twin brother, Styxx, whose jealousy of Ash is apparent. He must deal with the fact that his mother has destroyed the world as he has known it because of her love for him. He also must deal with Artemis, his most hated betrayer, and the dark-hunters she created.

Flash forward to the current day where we find Dr.Soteria Kafieri, aka Tory, who has picked up where her cousin, Geary, left off in the search for Atlantis. Ash cannot let Atlantis be revealed because not only would Apollymi be released upon the world, but Ash would be exposed as well. Tory has found concrete proof that Atlantis exists, and there are many who are determined to stop her from bringing this evidence to light. Helping Tory to interpret some of the journals she’s found, Ash is increasingly feeling more and more at ease with her. She is, of course, is feeling the same way. As they both have never had real luck in the relationship department, they fight their feelings for as long as possible. When Tory’s life is threatened, Ash snaps into full protector mode. And the rest is Dark Hunter history.

I loved this book. I had so many questions that were finally answered. Honestly, the beginning of this book was harsh, intense and so very cruel. It was very hard to read this book without becoming emotional. However, I found it necessary in order for the reader to really understand where Acheron came from and what makes him tick. Acheron had always been an enigma of sorts, but this book made him more “human.” I loved him and Tory together. I think they complimented each other well. I liked the fact that she wasn’t the typical all work no play, bookish archeologist. Though she wasn't part of the all things paranormal vibe of New Orleans, she wasn’t a wimp either. She was just a regular girl who fell in love with the ultimate god. We should all be so lucky.

Alright, tough writing the review for this one since it totally involved me. :-) But with all that aside, I loved the book. 722 pages of my beloved Acheron and I was sad when it’s over.

OMG! First part was just so sad, heart wrenching story of Acheron as a human. I was bawling all over the place. I loved Ryssa and Apollimi characters. Their compassion toward Ash was apparent. -- I did remember vaguely about Ryssa (that she was the reason why Apollo cursed the Atlantians into the Apollites) but I ...more

This is by far the BEST of this series. It takes you through Acheron's whole life and lets you understand how and why he is what he is and why he acts the way he does. The ending of the book is just amazing but i refuse to spoil it for those who have yet to read it. ...more
