4 ½ stars – Romantic Suspense

I really enjoyed this steamy, action-packed second installment in Tyler’s intense military romantic suspense Shadow Force series, but not as much as the first book, Lie with Me, mainly because it felt a bit cluttered at times.

I enjoy Stephanie's writing, however, I felt three romances in one book was two too many. It was chaotic and sometimes I was lost trying to remember how the couple got where they were, and had to back track. It was annoying. I liked Zane and Olivia, and I wish I had more time with just them. Tristan and Rowan weren't really necessary to the plot or storyline in this particular book, but maybe they will be involved in the next? Caleb/Cael (Why does he have two names? I liked this. It wasn't great by any means, but i enjoyed the story. I expected to read Zane and Olivia's story with another couple or two thrown in, but instead I feel like this was Zane's story. His relationship with his brothers is just as important as his relationship with Olivia. Although we don't quite get a happily ever after. Actually, the other two couples featured don't either. I was going to come here and write my review, saying that while I enjoyed this book I felt like somethings were missing, that the story started some place else. So I went to the author's website and noticed, why yes, something was missing, the whole freaking first book!! What an idiot I am, I am not sure how that happened.

IMO, this book wasn't quite as good as the first one in the series. For one thing ST has included another romance. So we have 3 couples vying for writing time and as we know from Nina Bruhns that doesn't always work out. It didn't work for me here. I never really felt the connection for any of the couples. Just when we would get going the chapter would end and we would be on to the next couple.
