I'm not a very big fan of promiscuous heroines and let's face it, Sam liked her men. However, I really wanted to read this story because of Ian's past. I did like the book but it was very hard to get past Sam's varied past.

Much, much more enjoyable than the earlier works in the series, Dark Lover focuses on Ian Maclean, the tormented son of Aidan of Awe who had been captured and tortured by demons for more than half a century. The mosaic of scars on his back are a physical manifestation of the fractured nature of his soul. Although a man of medieval times, Ian chooses to live in modern NY, and this is one of the first atypical aspects of this very typical series.

Samantha Rose and Ian Maclean's story. Excellent plot, plenty of evil to war against, tormented hero that struggles with many fears, and brave kick ass heroine. I would definitely read this book again.
