I see why this book is so widely renowned. Patricia Gaffney is an awesome writer. I was weary in the beginning because I don't really like it when the heroine goes through too much pain. Spending ten years of her life in jail and coming out looking starved and haggard was not my idea of a good start to a romance. This one was even more extraordinary than the first book in this series. Didn't think that would be possible. I found Sebastian to be despicable...how was this man the hero of the story, I wondered. But, ahhhh, redemption! And it was beautiful.

I liked it! I do tend to enjoy books where the hero is somewhat of a bad guy who eventually redeems himself. I don't know why, I just do. I saw this one recommended and was so glad when I was able to pick up a copy! It's kind of historical, but not so much. The focus is really on the main characters.

I liked the female character, it was new compared to the usual mains. I kind of also liked that the guy was a little mean to her at first..
Hmmm usually historical-romance translated to having ero (erotica) in it, but here it wasn't the usual amount where a big chank of the story is that, here it was more like the times where there was some other meaning were described, but other than that nothing.
