"She'd remember, and she'd start shaking, and there was no one there to remind her to breathe."
This is such a hard book to review. Totally easy to rate, though.

I can understand why some people took Bastien to be just a little too cold-hearted. But I just can't bring myself to care. I LOVED him, so much! He is ruthless and soulless. For nearly the entire book, he just doesn't back down. But you also get a glimpse of the emptiness that he exists with, the nothingness that is in his ...more

All of a sudden this book was turning up on so many of my friends list with them raving about it I decided to check it out. As I was reading the back cover it sounded really familiar and I thought I had read it, but decided to read the book to be sure. And sure enough I had read this one before, but it was good, so I decided to keep reading as it had been a few years.

Meh. And I had such high hopes for this book too. Maybe that was part of the problem.
Chloe Underwood finds herself unwittingly caught in a dangerous ring of big time crims and cartels. When she discovers too much, her subsequent necessary removal is considered at best a minor inconvenience, at worst, collateral damage, by both those who seek to kill her and the man who finds himself inexplicably driven to save her.

I finished reading this one, and I loved it! I'd even like to see Black Ice turned into a movie. At first I was thinking that Bastien was a real butthole, and that there wasn't ANYTHING he could do to redeem himself. But then things kept happening, and then we get a glimpse into his background, so it was easier to accept him, and appreciate him for being the flawed hero he was as the story progressed. There were some major twists just when I thought I knew what was happening. I was pleasantly su

OK so this is my first review and I think I can only do this book a scarce justice. I prefer to let people draw their own conclusions. Meaning I don't want to give away anything, and really want to have the next reader jump, cry, and laugh like I did when I was reading these books.(OK yeah I'm mush like that!)
Though I read the entire series in reverse order the first book is excellent in bringing about a series that will make you hang on to the end. The main characters in this book were very convi ...more

My second Anne Stuart book, and I still do not understand why she is so well liked. This book reads more or less like any other romantic suspense book. I've read numerous books with characters just like Bastien and Chloe. Its a nice quick read although the heroine, Chloe got a bit annoying at times.

the h bothered the hell out of me for the first half. By the second half, I really got into the story but I was still turned off by Chloe. And by then, Bastien had been so cold that I didn't believe he'd change.
All in all tho, I enjoyed the story. ...more

This one was just okay for me. I think I was expecting more because of all the hype I hear about Anne Stuart. The book has a cold feel to it and the relationship between Sebastien and Chloe was weak at times.
So I guess I won't continue with the series and maybe go with Devil in Winter next. Sounds like a fan fav.
