I wasn't offended by the content and the protagonist didn't annoy me. Even the hero, with all his "dark" flaws, was a fairly average guy that barely shows up in the book. The issue is there is no story here. Seriously. Nora gets kidnapped and carried off to a remote island after one unremarkable encounter with Julian and the rest of the book is essentially her eating, exercising and trying to pass the time in isolation with little pockets of textbook bland sex. This was an interesting kidnap/Stockholm Syndrome erotica, and I have to say that I'm a sucker for the private island trope thrown in with it- that for me is an automatic buy. However, I had a difficult time with Julian at first (and almost took me the whole book come around to him) and this was the only thing keeping me from a 5 star rating. I didn't like how Julian spent his first time with Nora so quick (view spoiler)

I enjoyed this enough to read book 2 and I am a huge fan of the authors Sci Fi/ Erotic series. 3.5
