I've greatly enjoyed all of Furst's novels to this point, but this one seemed to plod along in a way that others haven't. While Furst once again richly recreates what it was like to be in WWII Europe, I sometime did not connect to the characters or story in the same way I had previously. The final 80 or so pages did pick up nicely, but this was more disappointing than others. ...more
