Another excellent work by Furst. He recreates WWII Europe in a way that makes you feel like you were there. It is easy to read history books and just think this time in terms of key battles, but Furst's works remind you that life was happening all this time. Here we learn about life aboard a maritime vessel called into military service. Would've been 5 stars if not for some confusing plot that was, at times, difficult to follow.
