Another masterpiece from Paulo Coelho. I was reminded of nikos Kazansakis' Last Tempation through much of this, from the point of view of a man with a destiny unable to come to terms with it, constantly tortured by his self doubt until, eventually, through his trials and circumstances, coming to a deep personal understanding of his true destiny. More difficult to read than the Alchemist but not any less profound in the lessons it has wrapped in the text. I always come away from the authors books

Written in 1996 The 5th mountain has strong religious implication as Elijah journey to the 5th mountain is more that a biblical message (God has chosen Elijah Path and he must follow it without doubt, because only without doubt you can fulfill your destiny)

Excellent novel.
Fifth Mountain is written more in a parable form and is in fact about a piece of the bible. It's still an interesting tale enough to read and focuses on having faith in times of great misfortune.

Usually I love books by Paulo Cohelo, but this one is the exception. I was not impressed with the journey.
It was good. I reccomend to anybody.
