“The Chocolate War” examines the danger of mob mentality, using violence and fear to manipulate characters. Brother Leon, the adult authority figure, abuses his power as a teacher to intimidate his students, and Archie ‘the assigner,’ controls The Vigils actions, as if they were brainwashed.
