Wasn't sure what I would be getting into based on what I had heard from those who read this. I found it a very good read with a great overlooked perspective of the early days of the Civil Rights movements.
Just like at any time in history, you have good people and not so good people. People who see the need for change and people tha don't.

I loved this book. The characters were well defined and realistic. Ms Stockett wrote a very realistic story about discrimination and relationships in Mississippi between the blacks and the whites. She showed the negative as well as the positive. The bravery of all of the "Help" to tell their stories in a time when civil rights was not a popular concept was central to the story. Couldn't put it down until finished. Made you feel the suspense and also the anger that existed.
