I thought this book was very nostalgic, with the descriptions of daily life and clothing. Blanche's obsession with fashion and how smart she was to make the green jacket out of old curtains reminded me of Scarlet in “Gone With the Wind.” The way Vivienne let Millie and Simon go off and have adventures reminded me of my own childhood. This is a wonderful book; a nice companion to the Guernsey Literary Potato Peel Pie Society book. I have enjoyed it immensely. Can't wait to talk about it.

I didn't really get the feel for these characters. It seemed to me that the author didn't really develop the romance. Vivienne and Gunther met and the net thing you knew thew were in bed together. There were so many possible subjects that the author could epound upon but she just glossed over so much. The so-called twists in the book were not surprising at all and I have read so many better books regarding this time period.
