This was a typical Nora Roberts book. I'm still a sucker for romance and there is always plenty in her books. After being gone from his home in Antietam, Maryland for 10 years Rafe returns. Many in the town thought he would never come to anything. However, he returns and buys the run-down home where a young soldier from the Civil War was shot and killed. The old Barlow house was never the same after that, haunted by the mistress of the house who never spoke to the husband again after killing the This was a typical Nora Roberts book. The old Barlow house was never the same after that, haunted by the mistress of the house who never spoke to the husband again after killing the young soldier. Much sadness lives in that house and often times one can hear the weeping of the young Mrs. Barlow. Rafe buys the house and hires beautiful Reagan whos is new to town since Rafe left. She owns an antique store and as she walks throgh the old house with him imagining what antiques need to be acquird for the home she too hears the haunting weeping of Abgail Barlow. It doesn't take long for Rafe to sweep the beautiful Reagan off her feet and convince her that the old house can be made beautiful again and used for a B and B. I rate this a 5 because I love Nora Robert's books.

The second part of the book has Jared MacCade, the lawyer moving back to the family farm. He did live in the City but after divorcing his wife decideds to go back and share the farm house with his brothers. The farm is near the woods where the Civil War had left many memories of the young soldiers, only boys who had died there. The MacKade brothers had grown up in those woods and felt and heard the ghostly cries. It's when Jared is contacted by an attorney acquaintance from another city to contact a young woman about the death of her father that he comes in contact with Savannah and meets his match. Savannah has a son who never knew his father and Jared soon becomes the father figure he has longed for. But, Savannah has taken care of her son all his life (and from the time she was 16) so it's hard to let someone into their life. But, there's something about the MacKade men that can't be resisted. ...more
