This book grabbed me from the first page. Although it is a mystery, it is also a character study of 2 men, one white and one black who grew up in the late 70's. The story takes place in present with Larry, an outcast mechanic and Silas the local constable. The two were friends in the late 70's but this friendship was secret due to racism in Mississippi at that time. The mystery involves 2 missing young girls, one present day and one in the past.
