I would have given this book 5 stars but he killed the dog and you can't kill the dog. This story begins with a Forest Service Agent mass killing elk. Joe Pickett arrests him and he promptly escapes custody. When Joe finds him again, the agent has been murdered. Joe is faced with over-zealous FBI agents and Forest Service Agents. Joe is also worried that he and Mary Beth may lose their foster daughter, April, to her birth mother. I can't wait for the next installment ...more
