This book taught me so much. I didn’t know about Atlit camp, and hadn’t even thought about what concentration camp survivors would do after the war. Of course they couldn’t go home; there wasn’t a home or family left to return to.

It took me awhile to get into Day after Night and I found it difficult at first to keep the characters straight. I am ashamed to say I didn't really know anything about Atlit. There was so much in this book that was an awakening to me. Maybe my generation and certainly those after have not truly realized what a good, easy life we've had. We have not been ridiculed or persecuted for who we are or what we believe and have had freedom to make our choices. However, looking at our world today I somet
