This picture book is a photographic journey that introduces a new fawn's first days as he learns to live in the wild. His mother has to care for him from a distance, and checks on him as he learns to stand and strengthen his legs. He meets other forest animals, but is able to avoid "trouble" (a possible wolf, based on the shadow) because he is so young he doesn't have a scent yet.
