What makes his situation unique is that he lives on Alcatraz Island. The year is 1935 and Moose's father is a guard at the notorious prison. A good story that moves along at a nice steady clip. Based on history, families did live on Alcatraz, and totally fiction was what I enjoyed about this book. I can not imagine living on "the rock" but then again, I can imagine what some kids might enjoy about it. Liked the way that Dad was right about treating people with respect but remembering that convicts are there for a reason and so be careful who you trust.
