This classic tale retold by Kathy Elgin is easy for young readers to follow, but will they understand the lure of Cleopatra for Marc Antony? Her manipulative ways brought out the worst in him. What a shame that his eye for lust caused the loss of many lives at war and the downfall of the Roman Empire. Poor Octavia, she was a pawn in the game and didn't stand a match for Cleopatra's beauty. The mention of Cleopatra reminds me of and old musician friend and his message to Cleopatra recorded here:

Very simplified, easy to understand retelling of this Shakespearean play.
