It was very interesting to note that Rosa Parks was NOT the first to refuse to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery. A teen-ager having a bad day was the first. She was not ugly about it. She simply refused and was dragged off of the bus. As she said in the narrative; she was feeling rebellious.
I look at my own daughter and wonder if she could stand up for her rights the way Claudette did.

It was really interesting to read about Claudette Colvin, she's just one of many that we don't learn about in school. Claudette Colvin was actually the first to refuse to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama. Her refusal happened before Rosa Parks. Unfortunately, Claudette was not seen to be a good "face" for the movement against the segregation of the buses and was even shunned by her classmates.
