This was my first Libba Bray book and I was impressed. "Road trip" type books are difficult because either they're exhausting in a good way, where keeping up with the excitement and twists of the book makes you feel physically worn out, or it's exhausting because you rush to finish its horribleness. Libba Bray is absolutely one of my favorite authors, and while I have greatly enjoyed and have been immensely humored and captivated by her writings, this book deserves its own parallel universe to exist in altogether! If you can really stick with the book the whole way through (which isn't too much to ask, seeing as the main character Cameron is such a real and hilarious guy!), then you will definitely find Going Bovine to be an insightful and ingenious, albeit confusing, novel. I'm really torn between 3 and 4 stars - as I would expect from the wonderful Libba Bray, the book was interesting, well-written, and pretty darn funny. All that being said...it just wasn't really my thing. Sad day.
